Spark plug cable - what is the right Ohm for a good spark plug wire?

I measured my new spark plug wire for my Johnson 90 hp outboard 4 cylinders 2 cycles and got 525 ohms, but when I measured the other 3 cable that came with the motor that I bought last March. They were infinitive Ohms. So, were the 3 wires bad? should I buy 3 new wires?

Is this the proper way to test whether the spark plug wire is working or not?

There should be NO resistance... Zero, like a dead short reading! The inner wire should be metal with clean definite contacts on both ends.

There's a reason for asking for a model #, but no model #, No answers from myself.

Catalog:
Johnson Outboard Parts
Year: 1982
(View All Years)
Model: J90MLCNB

Does the model really matter???

There are a few motors that actually do have resistance wire spark plug wires. How would we know what you have if you don't tell us? OK, OK, the video would tell us. But back to the question, cars use resistance wires, outboards normally use "wire" wire----no resistance. It would appear somebody has put resistance wires on your motor. Trash them and get the right stuff.

I do believe the 60* motors had resistance wires. Anyway there's a procedure in the OMC service manual on how to check them.

I got sparks after cleaning all my ground terminals on all 4 ignition coils on my 1982 Johnson 90 hp outboard motor yesterday. It is all well now, will hook up water and gas to fire it up - fingers crossed.
