Spark plug cap spring

Just got some new coils for my old Chrysler 20HP. The ends of the plug wires were originally terminated with the springy thing. You have to pierce the side of the wire before putting the boot on. I'm going to find some new ones for these new wires.

Any trick/technique for making sure you hit the conductor when you pierce it? Do regular retail parts houses carry these cap springs?

I've never seen them go bad.
Usually just trying for the center will make it through. When it hurts and you see blood that means you probably got it right:) J

Re: Spark plug cap spring

Hey thanks. It was looking like this one was going to go unanswered. I tried several local parts places and a small engine shop that's been in business for a long time with no luck. I stopped by the marina to see if those guys had any. They told me I could just use the crimp on type so that's what I did. They gave them to me for free.

FWIW, I boogered up the old ones taking the boots off several times and re-piercing trying to troubleshoot an ignition problem.
