Engine is a 1986 Evinrude 30 hp (E30ELCDM).

This weekend I rebuilt the carb and did a link and sync. Took her for a boot and it seemed to run out ok. When I looked at the plugs they were like nothing I've seen coming out of a 2-stroke outboard.

If you follow the link and look at example #14 the plugs looked like that except maybe a slightly more reddish brown. If I'd pulled these out a car I'd call them normal but from a 2-stroke outboard???

Re: Spark plug diagnosis

If your plugs look like that then I would tend to believe that they are good.
to hot and it would be white and cold would be full of carbon deposits.
Your in the middle, it's a clean plug so keep her going.
