spark plug gap change

My 1987 225 Johnson calls for Champion QL77JC4 plugs at .040 gap. I have heard recently that due to newer gas formulations the gap should be reduced to .030. <br />Any thoughts on this......<br /><br />Reddog

They did change the Gap to .030, but I sill run mine at .040, as I always have on my '91. I tryed the .030 and it did'nt run nearly as well. Just my experience!
