I just finished my 10 hour break in now I bought new champion plugs can someone tell me what the gap is on these plugs? I have a 1984 johnson 140 V4 crossflow that I just had the top half rebuilt, and also put in a used lower unit.
Another question is when this past weekend we were full throttle on the lake and started getting some chugging like action out of the motor and when I would throttle back down it would shake a little , then when I would put the throttle wide open again it would have a hesitation period , if I would start tilting the motor up it would jump to fast speed, or if we would hit a few waves while waiting for it to jump into high speed , as soon as we hit the waves it would then jump into a high speed, can anyone chime in and tell me what I should do... so far I have drained the gas tank and bought a new fuel separator, even though we had the upper part rebuilt ,it did sit for about 6 months after only about 6 hours were put on the break in period. Now we are ready for a 50 - 1 fuel oil ratio and new plugs and new fuel /water separator
do I need to have the carbs rebuilt , there was no h20 in the fuel tank at all but there was some white crap looked to be from when I put in the new fuel tank float I used tephlon tape for the vent elbo. will seabreaze fuel stuff clean out the carbs, the white tape pieces were in the fuel separator filter when I emtied it out into a jar. Thanks for the help
