Hello,

on my 1985 50 hp VRO Johnson the spark plugs are covered with oil!
What is the reason for this?
Is it a malfunction at the VRO-System?
Is it a wrong Carburator Set up?

How can i solve this problem?

Thanks for your help!

Well you are burning a fuel/oil mixture.Maybe some oil should be there.I don't have a solution for plugs looking oily, but if you also have a running problem maybe it can be diagnosed.then the plugs may look better. If all is running correct, you may have an air leak on the fuel IN side, but then you would also have excessive smoking. And you would be going thru alot of oil.

What plugs are you running?Engine calls for Champion QL77JC4.Original gap recommendation was .040" Alternate plug is L78V surface gap,but is recommended for continual high speed operation.

Gapped at?! Provide some more info and we can better assist.DHP above touched on a few things that we can't see from our end.Is the engine running fine otherwise?Do you do a lot of trolling? Is the engine producing excessive smoke(as in overoiling)? What is the engines current wide open throttle rpm capability as propped?Should hit 5500 easy with an average load aboard.Have you inspected the fuel lines for air leaks?Fuel line air leaks can cause the vro pump to fibrilate and overoil. Is the vro pump the original?
