Working on getting my 1968 Evinrude 65hp V4 Sport Four running, was thinking about tossing in some new plugs since it sat for a while before i got it.

The plugs in it now are:

NGK BUHW

The parts stores seem to think it should have:

NGK BZ7HS-10

Can anyone tell me where i can find info as to what spark plug this motor should be using?

Re: Spark Plug Question

Ok, i will check and see if i can find the one you suggested, or the alternate NGK, in the local stores.

Last time we had this motor running it didn't idle that well and wouldn't come off idle very good either, that's why i was thinking of putting new plugs in before working on it again. I went through the carb and fuel system last year so i know there isn't any problems there.

Re: Spark Plug Question

go to NAPA, get the champion plug the motor was designed to use. it is known that using other brands can cause misfires.

Planning on swinging past there today and seeing if they are in stock. Last time i needed something they didn't have it, getting tired of stopping for nothing!

Re: Spark Plug Question

Napa has them, but i found them for cheaper at Runnings!

I now have the right Champion plugs, just need to finish re-wiring the boat and get some fresh fuel mixed up. Oh, and change the lube in the lower unit, and get the barrel ready for test running it, and get the new tires on, and repack the wheel bearings.... Whew...

Yeah, i got a long list to check off yet, but still hoping to get it in the water this month!

The three day holiday weekend helped get a few things crossed off on my list.
