Do i need to buy specific marine spark plug wires or will any plug wire from any automotive parts distributor suffice for my 1977 70hp engine?

Re: spark plug wire selection

You will need marine spark plug wires. They are a copper core wire, whereas automotive is not. Most marine supply dealers will sell it by the foot.

Most dealers should have it by the roll or check with an auto supply store for Packard 440 ignition wire.

I had to buy the boots at my OMC dealer and the wire (copper core) at a NAPA store. This particular OMC dealer didn't have any wire to sell by the foot, only complete wire "kits" which were way more expensive.

napa here doesn't sell any wire by the foot. They will order a whole roll for me at a cost of $172 but other than that nobody here carries any such monster.
