I have an 88-89ish 2150 Bayliner 21' with a 5.0L V8 omc cobra.
I want to change the spark plug wires and was wondering...

Would automotive spark plug wires work without any problems or do I need special marine plug wires?

Thanks in advance!

Ayuh,.... You can use Any plug wires you want, that Fit....

Automotive wires are usually to short,+ have the wrong ends though...

Agree with Bondo... you won't find wires listed in automotive parts catalogs (what the guys behind the counter use) to fit your 5.0.

Wires are wires but make sure the length is right. Longer is ok, too short can cause problems if they are too taut.

Thanks everyone for the advice!
I've been working on this engine and with the info and great help from the members here I got her up and running.
Now I just want to give her a tune up and splash her around in the water.

Happy boating!

Yup, I bought the pre-fitted SBF wires and had to run the wires up above the exhaust mainfolds as opposed to the old wires that ran below the manifolds. Not a terrible alteration, but I wold have preferred to keep everything below the manifold. The auto wires are definitely shorter though.
