Spark Plug wires

Het Guy's,<br /><br />I want to replace my spark plug wires on my 1991 Johnson 225 HP. The local OMC want's $9.57/ a piece for them. Can anyone recomend a cheaper source.<br />Thanks<br />Stoked Not

What's wrong with your existing plug wires? Unlike automotive plug wires, marine ones (copper core) rarely go bad, unless the exterior sheathing has been compromised. If they ain't broke, don't fix 'em...<br />- Scott

Chinewalker,<br />It seems that I have a intermiitent spark. When I switch wires the problem follows the wire. Already have a new stater and powerpack. She stalls on idle when it's in the water and idles a little rough.<br /><br />Stoked Not

What happens if you use an automotive spark plug wire in an outboard motor.

Just a thought.. one wire being bad won't stall a V6.Probably there are more problems.But if the wires (all six) are original they have lasted all these years.<br />I'd just replace the bad one,but if you want to do them all go ahead.These wires lasted till now.How long will the ones that are $4.00 cheaper last?Original equipment at $10.00 each isn't that bad.<br />Just a thought ...DHP

Right now I running a set of Accel automotive wires on my '76 V6 'rude. They're hi temp silicone insulated with tinned copper wire core. I've only got two seasons on 'em so I can't tell how they're gonna hold up. <br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty
