spark plug ?

A couple of questions 1: i have a 1966 johnson 80 hp V4S-18 , it has chapion plugs do you guys sugest NGK ??? if so what ### or what plug do you recomend??? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: <br />2: for the lack of proper words .....at the bottom of the engine , right above the prop ,, the big fin that wraps around ...its like 19" long ...10" of it is broken off...would this be why it takes so long to plane out?? can this be rebuilt/welded ???<br />3: does this engine shut off when it gets too hot?? :confused: :confused: <br /><br />thanks for any advice :D :D :D ;)

You and your engine will be a lot happier if you stick with the factory recommended Champion plugs.<br /><br />Yes, the broken anti ventilating plate will effect the boat's ability to get up. If there's enough of it left, you might be able to attach a hydrofoil to it. That should work.<br /><br />If your engine does shut off when it overheats, it's probably way to late.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Does any one know the right champion plug for it ??<br /><br />is that hydrofoil thing you sugest the big silver fin i see some people attach to the bottom of there engines??<br /><br />i fiqured that,, but how do you know when you water pump craps out??

The engine probably uses an L77JC4 Champion. Your manual should say but I'm guessin' you don' got one. You really should get one. Check with your OMC dealer or your NAPA guy to be sure about which plugs to use. <br /><br />Yep, that big silver thing is probably a hydrofoil.<br /><br />Ya don't wait for your waterpump to crap out. You replace it before it happens. If you don't know when it was replaced last, it's time. And yep, you'll need a manual if you're gonna do it yo'self.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
