Spark Plugs for Evinrude BE40ELCR 1984

The plugs in my engine when bought are Champion L77JC4! are these the correct Champion plugs for this engine? I cant get champion and have been given several different types of NGK from BR7HS, to B9HS and B9HV, so can anyone please tell me the correct Champion plug and correct NGK plug. many thanks for any help. JBD.

No KGB's!! Champions only!!<br /><br />The (Q)L77JC4's will work just fine. As will the ones on the chart in Ezek's reply.

Thank you EZEKA but I can't open the Spark plug chart on that link, I have tried all the usual methods but no luck! any advise on how to open it or what the NGK equivalent to Champion L77JC4 is, many thanks. JBD.

Thanks guys but I still can't open it? I have used Adobe for long time (have it installed) and know how to use it??, the only thing it downloads for me is the page on IBOATS with my question and your answers!! Nowt else AARRGHHH! It's got to be somthing I'm doing, My local dealer has just informed me that prior to 2002 NGK plug was B9HS, in 2002 NGK changed their plugs and that the NGK plug for my engine now is BR7HS-10, says plug must show the -10 after number! The plot thickens? I just want Champion.

the dash 10 only means that the plug is pre-gapped to 40 thousandths
