i have been looking for spark plugs or my 1982 evinrude 60hp(2-cyl)

i get lots of different part numbers and plugs depending on the site i search.....

the question: how do i know i am running the 'correct' plugs?

also... if i wanted to pay and upgrade to a little 'hotter' plug.... would that be wise?

thanks in advance

Re: Spark plugs

The original plugs were Champion QL77JC4, AC M40FFX, or NKG B9HS-10. Any of those will be fine. They also listed a surface gap plug Champion UL77V for "sustained high speed use". If you want to use that one, go ahead, but lotsa luck. Do not use "hotter" spark plugs under any circumstance. They can destroy your engine.

Especially 60 twins that are already stretched pretty tight.

Welcome aboard. :)

Re: Spark plugs

All OMC engines were engineered to use Champion plugs. Though others will work, they just don't work as well.

For all around use the QL77JC4 is the correct plug.

Good luck. :)
