"spark plugs"

Had a mechanic go over one of my motors today because of a high idle, luckily it was just a cable adjustment. When he was there he told me to get rid of the junk champion plugs that were in it and use a NGK BPZ8H plug, he said thats what he puts in most of the 250 efi motors, mine is a 250hp 2003 efi saltwater series 2 stroke. But the manual states a QL77CC plug which i have always run in my motors, he told me once i switch plugs i will see alot better performance from the motors and prob better fuel economy. Anyone else ever use this plug? Or can it be used in my engines?

Re: "spark plugs"

When I was mechanicing full-time I NEVER used champion... Always NGK.... Too many duds from champion.

The mechanic that did the work on my boat did the exact same thing. He said the Champions were fouled and needed replacing and he recommended the NGKs. This guy is pretty well known and respected so I assume he wasn't steering me wrong but I honestly have heard 50/50 for both sides of that argument. Motor runs great so I have no complaints.

Re: "spark plugs"

I personally never had an issue with the champions, but he said it will idle much better with less fouling and have a smoother acceleration, but my seloc manual says champion and champion only, they dont give any other plug as a reference. It says use of any other plug could result in powerehead problems!
