I replaced my old alpha one 350 with a 95-00 350 short block and I need to know what spark plugs to use. Can I use regular spark plugs or do I need a mercruiser, quicksilver or sierra part number for a "marine" spark plug?

Re: Spark plugs

Does the heads have long or short threads in the spark plug holes?

Re: Spark plugs

Actually Don, I used the heads from the block I bought and had them machined so the threads are short.

Re: Spark plugs

Also need to know if I can use regular valve cover gaskets. Hopefully the answer is yes, the engine is almost ready to be started and I don't live close to a marine parts place at all. It looks to me as if the marine ones are rubber, if I find a set of rubber gaskets can I use them?

Re: Spark plugs

Then use the same plug as you used before. AC MR43T or NGK BR6FS

Thats the problem, I didn't use any plug before, bought the boat with a cracked block and manifolds, then bought the new motor from a friend of mine. What valve cover gaskets to use?
