It's not fitch, it's Ficht!

Re: spark plugs

Do those Spark Plugs need to be indexed? I had thought so...

Yes, all OMC/BRP DI motors require spark plugs to be indexed.

Re: spark plugs

If I was you I'd take it to a good shop. It sometimes takes more than 6 plugs to get them indexed correctly and they have to be torqued. The shop should only charge you for 6 plugs as they can be used in another mtr.

Re: spark plugs

I would follow Boobie's suggestion, unless you already have the tools and knowledge to do it yourself, then:

How to video:

BTW, never even think of shimming or using extra washers to get a plug to index properly. If a plug won't index, use it on the same cylinder, opposite bank. It will almost always then index correctly.

Re: spark plugs

Hi, maybe some one can help with this one. My 1999 150 Ficht has the Champion 7712's, Im having a hard time finding them. I was given a replacement equivilent, NGK PZFR6F11, this was right on the retails system computer as an alternative. I diidnt go with them...yet... Should I keep looking or will the suggested replacement work?

I would only use the recommended Champions.
