Re: spark plugs

When the plug iz "too wet", it's in a flooded condition and shorted. If it's firing, it's o-k.

c/6

Hooty

Thanks hooty .was just trying to insure everything is set-up fine for 50:1.I guess they have to be a little wet or I'm not getting lubrication

Re: spark plugs

yeh the champion that manual suggests. you know hooty i was wondering as its been brought up on these forums before about what is the ideal mix ratio. since i ran for five plus years with vro I wonder if 50:1 on my particular motor is just a tad too oil rich.seems to run ok at WOT but then I've only run it for about 4 hours since vro was defeated.I was sort of using the plugs as a barometer of whats going on in the cylinders.any thoughts?

Re: spark plugs

Well, the VRO's do oil on demand where premix is 50:1 all the time but I had rather be oil rich then lean. I just finished a major on my V6 'rude and it only had 100 or so hrs. on it and the pistons were pretty carboned up but everything else was new. Even the cross-hatching on the cylinder walls. It didn't have many low-speed hours on it either. I think I may start using Pennzoil Synthetic Blend Oil and watch the carbon build-up. Dhandley is real high on that Pennzoil stuff but I am gonna stay with the 50:1 mix.

c/6

Hooty

Re: spark plugs

Sounds like you're probably right Hooty. better a little too much than not enough.dry crispy plugs probably mean dry crispy cylinder walls. Thanks for the feedback. Happy Motoring.
