Hey Folks,
Need your opinions and experience on this one. Winter is slowly setting down on us here in Ontario so it's time to start buying gear for next wakeboard and boating season.

I currently have a Doral Bow Rider with a 4.3L Merc. I am planning on adding some sound to the boat, my plan is 1 or 2x10 inch sub woofers then adding 6 speakers in the boat. My dillema is whether to go with 2 tower speakers and 3 lights or 4 tower speakers and 5 lights.

I will be adding amps as needed, but I need to know whether or not 2 tower speakers will pump enough sound to the rider on the wake or if I would be better going with 4 speakers? I am probably getting Polk Audio speakers in the tower canister?

So let me know what you think!

I moved this to the electric section because I know we have some real stereo gurus here....

If the person on the wakeboard can hear the sterio its too dam loud
Not everone on the lake wants to hear it- some want to relax & hear quite:(
I sometimes play my radio (yes i love music & have a nice system on my boat) but i keep it to the confines of MY boat ;)

Re: Speaker Help

I agree with u that not everyone on the lake wants to hear it, but we boat on a river that's abut 200km long, with about 1000 bays, when we wake board we like calm, glassy water so we steer clear of any high traffic areas, therefore even very loud music wont be a nuissance to any one else, so I need to know what people have experienced...is 2 speakers enough or is it worth going to 4 speakers on the tower!

Re: Speaker Help

For me I would go with 4 speakers. I would also do one quality 10" or 12" sub. The power limitations of your batteries and charging system will come into question. I would recommend a second battery if you dont already have one. Dont worry about all the people hating the music. Where I boat (Northern California) everyone has a loud stereo and I had a problem finding a quite place. We all know to use the stereo in the party cove and wakeboard areas where it belongs. Btw I have a 96 regal 4.3l, 6 tower speakers, 4 interior speakers, 4 chanel amp. About 500 watts total.

Do we really need to go into this EVERY time someone posts a stereo question?

Re: Speaker Help

Thanks ChrClo,

I just took delivery of a speaker and light combo set-up tonight, went with 2 tower speaker for now, also purchased four 6x9's and four round 6 inchers for the interior, also have a 10inch rockford sub for a little added punch. I will be adding one deep cycle battery to power the system and lights only.

Glad to see others using their 4.3l for some wakefun.

For those worried about the loudness, send me ur favorite tunes, i will add them to the playlist to keep you happy!

tks folks! now time to wait for spring to install it all, if someone has a link or pics of a wiring diagram from battery to head unit and then to speakers, let me know, i am handy with tools, not so handy with wires!
