Re: installing stereo speakers?????

I have a standard open bow config and the speakers are located in front of the drivers and passengers seats near the base of the console.

You can mount them any where you like. I have seen quite a few with them in the engine cover. I have also seen them mounted facing each other in the walk through, but i would think they would do alot to cancel each other out.

I would think mounting them in the engine doghouse would have them transmit lots of engine noise unless they are well contained.

Re: installing stereo speakers?????

My boat has a panel that extends below the throttle down almost to the floor. These panels cover the ends of the gunwales on both sides. I put one toward the front (by the drivers right knee and the passengers left knee) on each side. Sounds good and they are very well protected. This year I intend to add another on each end of the sport seat (bench) base. If I had a pic, I would show you but I dont think I have one.

Re: installing stereo speakers?????

This was at the end of a boating day this summer so the boat is filthy but you can see the speaker on the left side in front of the seat.

Re: installing stereo speakers?????

I would probably worry about the heat more than anything.

Maybe if you made boxes to cover the inside and siliconed them nice and tight, then the engine shroud would be ok.

Re: installing stereo speakers?????

on my old boat i put mine in the walk thru. I had no problems with them there. In the engine compartment i would try to block the heat from them. The heat from the engine will take away from the life of the speakers.

That speaker placement looks fine and dandy. If you replace those guys, I'd just make sure that there is something around the side of that panel to separate the sound waves from the back of the speakers from the front (they tend to cancel each other out...ie...crappy sound. ;)

Re: stereo speakers installed and Thumping!!

okay well im done for now here is what and where i installed in the boat

i installed 4 guage positive and negative power leads to a junction box under the port dash ..as you can see in the previouse pick i installed some 5" clarion marine component mids with seperate tweeters in the existing spaces from the factory in the side panels...i then installed some 6.5" boss marine mids under the dash areas on both sides.. I also installed 2 10" clarion marine subs in this location as you can see in the pics...I then installed 2 sony xplod 6x9 3 ways in seperate speaker boxes under both jump seat areas on both sides of the engine box. im using an eclipse 1000 watt mono sub amp driving both 10's at 480 watt rms and using a lanzar 800 watt amp driving the 6 mids and tweets at 75 watts rms..i installed a streetwires 1 farad capacitor to help deliver the juice to the subs....i still want to install 2 more 6.5" sopeakers in the bow area but that will have to wait now i have to clean up all the wiring and make it look presentable.i can crank the stereo all the way up and still no have any distortion....yea baby!!! Cant wait to crank some willie nelson at the river...lmao!!!

Heck, If Willie is what you were after, you just needed an AM receiver and a single horn speaker. Don't think he ever recorded anything in Stereo.:)

Just kidding of course. Your set up looks great. Nice work. I may need to ping you if/when I decide upgrade my sounds.

ahh relax......im getting close to being a blue hair myself.....:D...just because someone has a loud system doesnt mean they are not considerate of others or a respectful boater...i mean really... if your a guy you are equipped to be a gigalo but you may not be one and our girlfriends/wives are equipped to be *****s but they may not be one..so someone with a sound system that is loud just may NOT be the inconsiderate boater that you are inclined to label me as......i know when and where certain behaviors are acceptable and treat others as i would like to be treated....well i gotta run i think i hear the mother ship coming in.....:D

As I said "No offence intended". I didn't mean to infer that you were inconsiderate, just that the system is going to be LOUD
