Speakers? Opinions/advice

Thinking I might add some music to my boat (and the wife likes public radio).......


Anyone have any good advice for a decent speaker...... not looking for a a bank breaker

Bob I bought 2 pair of infinity Kappa 6" rounds and have been very happy with them, I have them hooked up to a 4 channel kenwood amp and I backed them up with 2 infinity basslink self powered subs. I have a kenwood deck with Sirius and external audio inputs. Its not for blasting the cove but I can hear my music clearly at 55 mph and thats all I can ask for. Nothing like listening to Kenny Chesney at the lake!

Hmmmm. NPR @ 55mph on the water? Something just doesn't sound right about that.:redface: Joking aside, hard to go wrong with Polk Audio, especially at that price.

Another POLK proponent. I put 4 of these in last season and love them so far. Tunes are important to me. They are a little power hungry so you need a good head unit to run them w/o an amp. (I do not have one on the Rinker)
My reciever is 52x4 and does pretty well with them, but I could get alot more with a small amp.

The Polk's are what everyone is buying, (those that don't have $600 to spend on boat speakers) so I went with something different. Infinity 612M.
They actually sound a touch better than the Polk's and handle more power.
I am quite pleased with them, and the chrome like grills and blue speaker add a bit of class to the boat.

Kicker, Infinity or JL... Any well built speaker needs an amp to achieve peak performance as most decks are pretty weak.

What sizes are you needing?
