Last night we watched "Duplex," with Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore. I think it came out in 2003, but I musta been sleeping that year or something.

Anyway, we're watching this comedy that starts out in a fairly light vain, but gets darker and darker as it progresses. All in all, a bit too dark for me, but it certainly has its moments.

One scene was absolutely one of the most overpoweringly funny pieces of film I have ever seen, and that was the part where Stiller's character is under the tenant's sink trying to clear it. Barrymore's character (the wife) is standing over the sink, looking down into it. Stiller has the trap removed and is peering up inti the clogged drain from underneath.

Now, understand that the sink is full of this muck that is the remnants of the preparations of a Christmas dinner, and looks like it was digested already and disgorged there in a manner we all know and refer to as "the trots."

Anyway, stiller does something from underneath which causes some of this muck to shoot straight up into Barrymore's mouth (my own stomach begins to object at this point). As she is recoiling and beginning to convulse, Stiller gets the drain to oopen up whereupon all the muck, or at least that portion of it which did not end up in Barrymore's mouth, drains into his face. By this time Barrymore begins to "hurl," and all of that then goes right through the now-freely-flowing drain---again, right into Stiller's face. This series of unlikely catastrophes take place in the span of about three seconds, I suppose.

I have never laughed so hard in my life. I have seen some funny stuff, but that particular sequence is the champion gutbuster of all time for me!

I guess we find humor in very different things, Dad.

I think, rather than laughing I would have tossed my cookies on the spot and left the theater.

Now that is funny.

A new twist on the tired old scene of working under a sink and getting someone wet.

I have to see that movie!
