Anyone know some hot spots for speck in Lake Monroe? Best time of day and fishing depth? I hear they are out and about, just wondering if anyone had some input.

the crappie i get around here(central FL, st johns and various lakes) seem to be best in the evening, about 1.5 hours before sunset, caught on minnows at between 8' and 4' under a bobber. the fattest crappie i have caught were in the st.johns. about 14" and FAT! caught near the bank around tree's and such.

I'll be going out wed morn on Lake Monroe, Debary public boat ramp, wish me luck, I'll let you know how they are bitting! You ever fish for crooker fish? I saw some for sale in my Publix seafood. I hear you can catch them in the st.johns. I hope I catch some crappie, I got a hunger for some right now!

how did you do? if you put in on highbanks you can head south a little and get up in the wekeiva. real nice up there, great fishing where it meets the st.johns. also a little further south of there, there is some great beaches to have lunch er whatever you wanna do.

hey hey...I did go but the boat ramp on enterprise was closed to construction, they are adding a floating ramp/dock, it should be nice. I got in at Mariner's Cove. Well, we didn't catch a single crappie, my nephew caught about a 1.5 pound bass, which made his day though. I didn't get out there until around 2pm cause I had a case of dragon *** this morning. Yah, the wekiva and St. John's shelf, some guys at highbanks told me about it. At the moment I have a 14ft jonboat with a 3 horse, lol. I ran that thing forever and never made it there, lol. I'm fixing up a mfg trihull with 50 h.p so maybe soon I can hit some of them hot spots! If you get to go out let me know how you made out, Dan

try drift fishing in Cresent Lake, south of Palatka. also the cut between Cresent and Dead Lake. there is a great old camp with cabins on Dunns Creek, Georgia Boys, it is a 7 mile run to Cresent, which is 13 miles long, down to Dead Lake. and a short run the other way to the St.Johns.

I just heard today about Cresent Lake, I'm going to have to check out the camp, sounds like it would make a fun weekend, thanks tashasdaddy. I went out yesterday on St.Johns by highbanks marina and caught 3 of them, so now that I got a hang of it I hope to catch a mess load and fry'em up, mmm good! :) dan
