So after buying the pitot for my speedo to work and it didn't, it dawned on me that my phone has GPS.... I tried it out in the car and it worked pretty good. So I took the boat to the river today and it didn't work AT ALL! While I was out there playing around a boat was behind me going as fast as me, they came in close "probably to get a better look"I get stared down alot cause its different. Any how I ask them how fast I was going and was told about 40..They said to go and they would clock me, the water was pretty rough and like1'/2' waves I was hitting at 35-38 mph they told me. What speeds can I expect with it short shafted? I had a good time with out the g/f telling to SLOW down the whole time!! I think i could hit 45 on calm water now?

Isn't it supposed to have a short shaft?

You'll never know how it runs or handles till it's set up right.

Good to see your having fun with it.

Get it converted to a short shaft, get a good prop (older Michigan bronze 2-blade) and you should see significant gains. 40+ easily...

Re: speed 35+...

The shaft iv'e already found and im going to order that over the next couple weeks. The prop on it now is pretty jacked up and iv'e been unable to find a replacement that im sure will fit. I finally got to play around with some sharper turns at faster speeds, pretty fun!! I noticed that if I throttle down just a hair and cut it hard it will turn pretty sharp but in the river there really isn't any place to go except back the other way. Im leary about taking it down the St. Clair river to lake Huron, the current is pretty strong and I would hate to have problems out there. But any how, where could i find a better prop?

eBay item #270281387506 looks like it might work. I can't tell for sure, but that's the style you should be looking for. Might be able to confirm through Michgan Wheel website...

Thanks for the link! As long as the spline is the same size as the one I have now it will work? I'll be watching it and I asked for the measurements of the inside of the spline. I will try to get more info from Michigan wheel. Thanks again..
