what kind of speed (ballpark) can i expect to get out of a (properly running) 1980 evinrude 9.9 pushing a 14ft edson aluminum boat?

with just me in it on a calm day, my gps read 35 km/h. sound about right?

Excellent,It might be fun to play with the setup, careful trim, weight placement, raise the motor using 1/4 inch sticks set on top of the transom.Raise to a point just before venting (cavitation) becomes a problem.Be sure it pumps water.I would think you could break 22 mph easily.

I was just curious because the guy I bought it from said he out on a carnival from a 15hp 'rude. I have read the other posts about interchangable carbs but no reference to on water performance differences.
