You might see 30mph or a little over if the hull is in good shape and the finish is nice and smooth on it.

Re: speed guess?

another question, on cars and bikes and such a coil, is a coil, they all do pretty much the same thing and if you can make it fit it will work. Does the same thing apply on these motors? because my coil new is like 150 bucks and others are like 60, so im just wondering if i can buy a cheaper one and it will do the trick.

thanx

Re: speed guess?

It probably should have the correct one for that motor, if my assumptions are correct, and it has a Mercury CDI ignition system.

Is it just that it is missing a coil that makes you say it needs one? Or is this something that has been suggested as a needed repair.

I ask because if it is a Mercury CDI "Thunderbolt" ignition, there are a number of parts that could possibly cause problems, and most of those parts cost more than that coil, and might even be compromised with the incorrect part.

Re: speed guess?

the had it out last summer it ran fine but by the end of the season it was acting up i guess and he took it to a mechanic and they said coil he never fixed it since it was end of season. I do not have the boat in my driveway yet to test all this myself so im going on what im told so far. I'd like to no more about what would be the problem because i never take a mechanics word for anything i think there quacks haha.
