I'm new to boating and chat rooms. I just purchased a 1968 16' aluminum starcraft, with a 199? 70hp force ( model # 706x92a serial # 020667 ) the motor looks brand new and runs like new. the only wear on motor is a little paint gone from bottom rudder. The number I see on the prop is 48 73144 a40 17p. At 1/2 to 3/4 throttle ( aproximatly ) the boat cruises nice at 25-26 mph according to the gps. When I'm at full throttle I gain only 4-5 mph. The motor cavitation plate is even with the hull I have power tilt and trim. the motor runs smooth and seems to rev right at full throttle ( no rpm gage ). Is this all the faster this setup should go? sorry for the long post just want to give all the information I can.

WILLYMAZE

Re: speed info

My motor is a 3 cylinder one carb maybe a 1992. the prop looks factory but is only 9-9 1/2 across ( hard to measure with a 3 blade prop ) it seems small compaird to my father inlaws johnson 1970's 70 horse. thanks for the response.

willymaze
