I just put a deposit down on a boat on Ebay. I know, you should not buy a boat over the internet, thats why I just put down a deposit. It is a 1860 alumicraft tunnel hull that weighs around 1100 lbs without the motor. The guy says it runs around 45-50 MPH, and it just has a 2 stroke 75 Merc on it. Do you think this is possible? I also wanted to ask about the tunnel hull, how shallow will it run on plane?

Re: Speed of 75 Merc.

Speed you were quoted is about right and possibly could be a tick higher if you tweak the setup, experiment with props, tune the engine for optimum performance and have a squeaky clean hull. Don't know anything about the boat so the hull may limit its speed. My 17 foot Alumacraft side console walleye boat with a 75 2 stroke would run right at 45 with two aboard, empty live wells but lots of gear, troller, two batteries, etc.
