About to put a speedi sleeve on my yoke. The sleeve will start out a little too long. Then after it is mostly on I will remove the radiused end per instrctions. At that stage how do I go about getting it a little further down onto the flat of the shaft? Can I just tap it down working around the circumfrence or is it tougher than that...... just like to know what to expect before I start.

Ayuh,.... The few I've done, I froze the yoke, then drove on the sleeve,....

Once seated, the drivin' flange is busted off, 'n removed,....

"If" the leadin' edge needs to be trimmed, it must be done very carefully, as it slips through the new seal,...

Mine Didn't need trimmin',....

Thanks for the response, Bondo. The shaft in the freezer is sure to be a good tip.

I won't need to trim my sleeve if I can push/drive it on a little further after I have pulled off the driving flange, which I will need to do. I'm not sure I see a good way to drive the sleeve on a little further once the flange is removed.

Since ther are only two choices for size, and I have the shorter one, everyone who has done this job has faced this problem.
So how do you drive the sleeve on a little bit further once the flange gets stripped off?

Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill... but it is an expensive sleeve and I'd prefer not to ruin it if there is a simple trick to it.

Ayuh,..... Cut the leadin' edge down to a smooth bevel with a flat file,....

Clean it up after with fine grit crocus cloth,...
