speeding

Hi all, any one ever gotten what amounts to a speeding ticket from the Coast Guard? I got boarded for "speeding" in a no wake zone. Any one know what the fines are like?

Not from the C.G. but the local marine cops. There tickets are not cheep. You have to think they don't write as many as there land counterparts so they have to make up that money somehow.

You should get boarded for speeding in a no wake zone. <br /><br />I have no sympathy for those idiots that can't figure out what a orange circle and a 5mph or less means. There are reasons fro those signs and regulations<br /><br />I got hit and swamped while rowing a few weeks ago. Freak'n jackhole didn't even know what he did, and why I was so PO'd at him.

A boating buddy of mine got cited for 'speed' in a no wake zone... Cost him $85.<br />And Kilgore, if you got the guy's hull numbers, my DNR friend says that you can lodge a complaint. They don't like law-breakers either...<br />Happy Boating!<br />Brian

In my own defense. I was on a river (after being on the bay) that had a speed limit only on weekends during the summer months and certain holidays . It just happened to be that first weekend of the summer it went into affect.

Well you could dispute the ticket and tell your story to a judge. I did on a ticket I get on the water some years ago and walked.
