Does anyone know how to correct the speedo? Mine seems to be slow, but the boat is not slow. I will GPS it this weekend.

Where is the trim/tilt sensor on a 2005 Lowe FM1650 with a 2 stroke Merc 50? My gauge is reading up constantly... and I haven't found the same wires in the back as under the console.

Thanks for your help.. I am a new boater.

Welcome Mike

Check the pitot on the back of the boat.... it's where the speedo tube connects on the transom... It may be bad or clogged... You can blow in the line and if the gauge is good it will go higher the harder you blow...

with out pics of you motor I can't say where the tilt/trim switch is located......Not familiar with the Merc 50

Lift your motor at it's highest point, look up under the left side see if you have a Trim Sending Unit,,, I had the same problem & had no Sending unit installed from Merc...Dealer put on on..

My 05 FM165 did not have the sender installed either. Dont really need the gauge. It'll be down 99.9% of the time. You barely have to trim up with it to get max speed. Plan on swapping out that gauge and putting in a water pressure gauge instead.

Thanks for the tips. I checked, and it is missing the sending unit. Don't think I will buy one either.

I GPS'd the boat at 29 mph..the speedo shows 24. not worth messing with.
