Speedometer mishaps

I typically run in shallow water and sometimes get a little too shallow:eek:. Occasionally, after my prop gets clear (99% of time it's very easy to get back out), I notice the speedometer refuses to work (there's a -- where a number should be). It usually comes back on after a little time. Can anyone explain this? Is this symptomatic of a bigger problem?

Re: Speedometer mishaps

more than likely your pitot tube is getting some debris wrapped around it. It probably falls off after a short spell or your speed picks up and the force of water knocks whatever was there off. Nothing to worry about though you may want to check it once your out of the shallows and before you get up to speed.
