My speedo on a lund prosport with Merc engine quit working and I was wondering if any body knows where the "pick up" (pitot) is on this combo. I can't seem to find it and am starting to suspect that it comes from the outboard? Does any one know if this is the case and if it is where on the outboard I would find it.

Thanks

Never seen one on the motor, always found them attached to the bottom of the transom...
Malfunction was always clogged pitot, broken, cracked, or kinked hose.

Merc put a pitot in the lower units on both outboards and some I/Os. Look on the leading surface of the lower unit (the side towards the transom) for the opening.

Mercruisers have been in the lower unit for YEARS. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Mercury outboards were as well.

Here's where to look bigrock:

Thanks for the replys, it was on the leading edge of the lower unit. There was a small piece of wood jammed in the pitot, I dug it out with a needle and the speedo works good again.
(Next time I will wear my glasses when looking :) )

Thanks again guys!!
