Hi,
I took a look at the lower leg and can see that speedometer pickup seems to be plugged good.
It must have been like this for a while as I found the speedo cable is disconnected and all coiled up in the middle of the boat.
I can't seem to find where this cable is suppose to connect to on the motor, the output must be covered up by something.
I looks like unclogging it would be a pita, but need to know where to blow the air from the top to clear it.
Can anyone post a picture as to where it suppose to connect?
Or do you think it is just better to install the aftermarket universal pickup?

The pick up for it is in the very bottom front of the gear case. Take a very small drill bit and hand ream it out. The fitting for the hose is on the very front top of the gear case. Go to shop.evinrude.com, look up your gear case and you'll find the part # for the fitting. It's actually a good set up when working.

Does anyone still use these antiques? I thought everyone uses a gps, or at least, an idiot-phone app. Seriously, though, I fully understand wanting to keep OEM stuff working- I'm of the same view.

Between a fine drill bit and some safety wire, you should be able to clear the plug quickly. If I had a nickel for every time mine got plugged... Okay I have a only a few dollars... But it really isn't that unusual to have them plug. Anything submerged just under the water surface can and do plug one before you can say UH OH! There were days I was running 45 MHP even when I was back home with the boat on the trailer... So out comes the drill bits and wire.

What's a gps ??

It's a new fangled thinga-mahoozit that informs you that the rock you just hit is actually 50 feet away. :D But back to topic- I've found that a piece of piano wire in hand drill works pretty good for cleaning those pesky pitots.

I think mine is VE140TXEID but I'll double check my serial number, although I'm not sure there would be much of the difference on the outlet location.
It is very hard to tell by the part diagram the actual location, I wish someone could post a picture, even if it is a slightly different motor but the location and the way it looks would help.

If that model # is correct I can't find that fitting on your gear case. Possible they didn't show in the parts for that year or they didn't have it
