I'm moving my speed pickup and am short on tubing. Is there anything special about the tubing or can I just grab some bulk vacuum hose from the auto parts store? I think it's 1/8 size, correct?

Nothing special about it. I think it is larger than 1/8" however. You should use a male-male fitting to join the tubing pieces.

Thanks. Can anyone confirm what size it should be? I planned to grab a section on my way out this morning to take with me to the parts store but left in a hurry.

Size doesn't matter but material does. Vacuum hose will very likely deteriorate due to the effects of sun, water, and just being continuously exposed to the elements. The correct tubing is available at most marine dealers and nearly any department store that sells boating supplies. Plastic or brass Male/Male hose barbs are available in the plumbing dept of Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

at my boat shop I can get it for .30 a foot. Vaccume tubing is a lot more at the auto store.

I got the clear plastic(polyeurethane?) tubing from the hardware store. 17 cents a f00t. Has worked out good so far. You can see if it gets clogged too.

I ended up just going to the marina and buying a bunch of the appropriate tubing. It's definitely a different material than vacuum tubing.
