why does my boat have a pitot located on the outdrive and a add-on located on the transom?<br />It seems the add-on is the one hooked up to the guage. Does the the built-in one become unreliable?

Re: speedometer pitot

Did you buy the boat used? If so, the former owner may have installed the add-on since the original one may have become non-working. Outdrive hole may have become clogged and he didn't know how to fix the problem other than buying an add-on and installing it. Just my 2 cents of opinion.

Re: speedometer pitot

My used boat speedometer didn't work at first but I got it working again. When replacing impeller I checked the conduct through the lower unit, then checked the small hose through the transom and it was ok. The problem is that small hose from gimbal to the board was clamped with the gimbal itself!! I pulled out the hose and then I realized it was connected to a small tube of the gimbal inner part. I checked from lower part to gimbal tube and the hose to the board on both were ok. It was just little hose clamped.
