I have a speedometer in my boat but there is no hose or wires connected to it and I can't find a pitot on the motor any where. It is a 3 cylinder 1989 Merc 80 horse. Don't know a thing about this stuff so really need your help to figure out what I have to do to get a working speedometer.

Re: Speedometer problems

your motor does not have a pitot. it is a separate unit screwed on the transom. it;s cheaper to buy a complete system, then you know you have a working unit. they hose runs from pitot, to the speedo, it works on air pressure in in the hose applied by water pressure, put on the pitot. most are not that accurate. gps is best, if accuracy is important.
