Hey everyone,
I just purchased a little skiff that came with a great old 2 stroke 16hp suzuki outboard. Since I bought it, I used it twice, and it worked great. fired up first pull, and had terriffic power. Yesterday I took it out, and lost loads of power, and gasoline. As I motored out of the Santa Barbara Harbor, and twisted the throttle to "get moving" it throttled all the way, but the power did not increase. Then I noticed that gas was dripping out of the housing into the water. I throttled up, and the ammounts of dripping gas increased as well. I shut it down, let sit for a few minutes, then fired it up again, and put it into gear. This time I got a tad more power, but still clearly not up to snuff. Once I got it back onto it's trailor I opened up and tried to figure it out. Unfortunately, i am not very mechanically inclined as I would like to be. When I opened it up, and primed the engine I noticed gas just kept dripping from the carborateor. Im guessing im just flooding it and this is as it should be, but maybe not. So if anybody has some helpful hints as to what is wrong, and ways to go about fixing it without taking it in. Please let me know.
many thanks and much appreciation,
Jack
