Splash Shield threaded fuel connector to Quick Connect

I recently acquired a Bass Tracker with a 2008 Mercury 50HP Classic 2-Stroke. It has apparently been sitting for much of its life and I am going through it to make it run as best it can. I’ve already been flushing, changing lower unit oil, about to change impeller, fixed the controls, and got it running.

It has a threaded male connection coming out through the splash shield and the previous owner clamped a fuel line onto the threads and ran it to the motor with a Mercury style quick connect. I suspect I am losing prime and this may be part of the issue. Can anyone tell me where to get a female to Quick Connect adapter? Or perhaps a male to quick connect?

Also, is there an air filter on this engine? The air box on the motor just directs air to the carbs, and I can’t see any filter in the air box on the cowl. Any know for sure?

After some more investigating, I think it’s called a spray less connector... would love to find a female version to adapt to the male.

However, I have found a male version, but only in plastic... is there a metal version?

Welcome aboard.

Outboards don't have air filters. Some have silencers ahead of the carbs, but it's usually just an empty box.

A Moeller sprayless connectors are threaded into the tank and they are all plastic. It sounds like the PO mounted it through the splashwell and it's backwards.
