I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A NEW SET (2ea.),OF PLUGS FOR MY MERC. 25 H.P., SEA-PRO, 1993 .<br />THE STANDARD PLUG ARE NGK's, BUT MY DEALER ARE OFFERING ME A SPLIT FIRE ONES . ARE THOSE BETTER THAN THE JAPANNESE MADE.<br /><br />SPLIT-FIRE, MODEL # SF-263D ??!!<br /><br />THANKS,<br />DON

Garbage. They have been sued and lost because of their bogus claims.

I would not recommend them. I had a set on a 4.3 Cobra I/O. One of them blew the electrode tip off inside the cylinder and tore the piston and cylinder up. Another blew and seperated the porcelain from the casing. It shot out and landed in my enclosed, carpeted engine room and caught the carpet on fire. I called Split Fire and asked them what they were going to do about my engine and carpet. They told me to send them the plugs and if they determined that they were indeed defective they would send a new set to me. I told them to "Go Jump!" I ended up buying a new motor and went back to AC plugs. I couldn't tell the difference. I would stay away from Split Fire!!!

Get the book, find out the correct plugs and go to an auto parts store and buy the manufacturer recommended plug and heat range. It will be cheaper. (P.S. it won't be Splitfires)

It sounds like your dealer is trying to get rid of some unwanted stock. Follow the recommendations in your manual.
