Spline grease

I think I forgot to grease the splines on my gen2 LU. What is the main purpose of spline grease, To keep water out for future disassembly and friction/wear reduction. Hoping it will b ok for a season.

You mean the propeller shaft splines? . . . Makes it easier for the prop to come off when you want it to.

Hoping it will b ok for a season.

On the engine coupler you should have at least 1 zerk fitting you can shoot some grease in, rotate the shaft, shoot some more.
That should help some.

did that, how can you rotate the shaft, by bumping starter?

How is the coupler zerk going to get grease to output shaft on top of lower unit ? Does not sound like we are on the same page.???? I dont know for sure

I was working off you using the term "spline grease" which is in the name of the grease used for A, not B/C.

The grease keeps the splines from wearing out, plus it keeps them from rusting.

On a gen II spline B in bathed in oil and needs no grease.

The manual does show coating the B splines in 24c before assembly.
Maybe that's what he was asking about.
Sorry the picture is a little small but you can see the reference to using 24c.
