looking for a prop for a '80 johnson 200hp v-6, question is what is spline? trying to find one on ebay about 17pitch, but said it was a 15 spline??? any help appreciated
Splines are the bumps/ridges on the prop shaft that mate with the bumps/ridges in the center of the prop. They make sure the prop turns with the prop shaft. 15 splines = 15 bumps/ridges.
With the prop removed from the motor,look inside the center hole and you will see what look like teeth.Same goes for the prop shaft on the motor.Count how many splines(teeth)there are to find your prop.
