My opinion? They're snake oil. A hoax. Stay with the factory-recommended sparkplugs.

c/6
Hooty

Re: splitfire marine plugs

I'm much more into motorcycle engines than I'm am into boat engines, hopefully changing that with the help of this forum, and it has been my experience, with the help of maximum-suzuki.com, that the Splitfires are nothing but a gimmick and may possibly cause some damage. Advice, just stay away from them.

Why waste perfectly good money? save it for more important things like beer.

They are basically a design borrowed from aviation spark plugs. Every aviation plug I've seen or used had three side electrodes and one center electrode...and are fired by magnetos. Look at all the reciprocating engine planes flying...tripple electrodes are in their engines.

If you want to try something just like them you can get NGK with the vgroove in the electrode.Same principle without the cost.Charlie

Gimmick. The only way you will see ignition improvment is if you increase the energy of the spark. You could have fifty electrodes and the spark is only going to go to one of them. If anything, less electrode area is the way to go, otherwise you are just masking spark. Stick with stock.

Excellent link Seahorse. Now if everybody would read Splitfires ad language and see if they have ever heard/read similar language applied to any other automotive/marine snake oil we would all be better off and wealthier too.

Splitfire Plugs. I got them a few years back. IMHO, my outboard performance is just as good with a new set of Champion plugs. Take everybody's advice, save some cash and get the regular plugs.

Already have. They don't call em Champions for nothing. You don't know if you don't ask, that's what I like about this forum. You guys have usually been there and done that, no matter what's asked. Better than Britannia's.
Thanks,
Knob
