ok so my nephew is driving pulling up to the dock to pick up his wife and MIL ... I'm in the bow with the rope ready to step off.. he's coming in a little too fast but not too much so I step with one foot, now I'm one foot in one foot out and he realizes just how quickly he is moving...yep you got it, he pulls it into reverse, now I never have been able to do a split and obviously still can't so I got verrrry wet, glasses and all...he's fired BTW or maybe not, he needs the practice, but I think I'll let someone else handle the bow line :D

Lisa

Splish-splash, he was takin' a bath.

Too funny. I can laugh because I've been dunked in the same way, myself.

What CAT said. Only those of us who have done the "dock splits" are allowed to laugh! :D :D

Anybody ever do the "full body splits"? Both hands on the boat, both feet on the dock? I'm sorry to say I've done that one too.

I did it during a white water rafting trip, trying to step onto a large rock. Raft started moving, I ended up going through a class 4 rapid without a raft...and I can't swim.

Re: splits at the dock

Many years ago I was launching in a considerable cross wind. In order to avoid drifting over the metal guards I got my brother, on the parallel dock, to hold a bow & stern line to stop the side drift. As I backed off slowly I heard a loud splash. When I looked around the first item to surface was one hand holding his glasses. It was freezing cold & he didn't appreciate my laughter.

One nice day me and my twin brother were motoring in and he was in front with the bow line waiting eagerly in anticipation of the dock

wait i have to stop laughing cant type....

ok

I goosed it a little bit FORWARD - he launches back into the boat (everything was put away) and I start laughing!!!

He came up with murder in his eyes holding an oar

He saw me laughing so hard he started to laugh as well..

Oh well you have to be brothers to appreciate the humor.

tomatolord
