Im changing the spool bearing on my 85 force and am wondering if their is a certain tool to press the new one in? I used a socked to get the old out and the bearing didnt like that too much and she wasnt that good looking when she got out.

Re: Spool bearing replacement

you may be able to take it a machine shop and they will press it in or ya can do it the old fashioned way.... put the new bearing in the deep freezer over nite and when ready apply A LITTLE heat to the housing, just enough to get the casting to expand... a dead blow or a hammer and piece of soft wood or i like to use the vise to press it in but ya have to quick about it.
