My 1998 175 hp Sport jet runs great for about 2 hours and then a sudden power loss. Goes from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm back and forth w/o touching the control. Saturday, 4000 rpm and and no power. 15 mph and should be 30 mph. Like it is running on 3 cylinders. I emptied the fuel out of my canister filter (just changed it) and clear, no water, nothing. The Merc mechanic just got done with it and said it ran like a new motor. Of course at a water hose idle in the shop. He did not know. Anyone know what it could be? Please help me. This is pitiful.
