Hello all!
This is my first post glad to join iboats! I hope this made it to the right forum.
Well, I am the owner of a 1994 sea rayder with the merc jet 90. This is my second year of ownership. Last year, the boat started instantly everytime no issues, next day or weeks later always started right up and ran great. This year is a different story.
So I stored the boat in the garage over winter, put stabil in gas. I pull it out this spring to get a no start / very hard start condition. Figured it would need a few cranks to get it going after sitting but something else is going on. First day I got the no start at the lake I brought it back home thinking stabil didnt work so I pumped the gas out of the tank and put fresh gas/oil mix in. Also fresh set of plugs went in. Still no start. Checked for spark, good. Check for fuel after the pump, good.brought it back to the lake then I cranked the thing over for at least 60 seconds (that poor starter) then t finally started. It had white smoke coming out exhaust for about 3 minutes then that went away. Boat ran great after started. Went cruising around, turned it off for an hour, started right back up instantly that same day and I figured all was good. After 3 days of sitting, brought back to lake with the same issue. 60 seconds of turning over to get it to fire up, white smoke out exhaust for minutes then goes away, runs great and starts again that day after initial hard start.
What would cause it to hard start every time its a first start the next day? My starter hates me and probaly wont last long if continue to start it that way . What should I check first? Compression? Fuel pressure? Whatcha think? Thanks
