sport jet questions...

my friends recently got a jet boat 1999 sugar sand heat with a 120 merc sportjet.
is it suppose to take a really long time to start or it there a choke that i should know about.
what does xr2 mean? it says that on the side of the boat.
is it me or does this boat vibrate like crazy.

It has what you could call an automatic choke. It enriches itself when starting and when cold should take more than 10-15 seconds to fire off. At least all that I've owned would. As for shaking, no more than an outboard.

there is a check valve at the fuel tank and it may be bad if so it will allow fuel to leak back to the tank and this will cause it to be hard to start when it is cold, you can add a primer ball to the fuel line and pump the fuel like an out board, this would be the least expensive way to take care of that issue,, and yes it does vibrate but if you remove 1 pint of gear lube from the gear box and replace it with slick 50 teflon oil treatment it will eliminate a lot of the vibration. been there done that.
