95 Sportjet 90. Last year I upgraded to all CDI ignition and the boat ran, finally, for the whole last day we used it. I did nothing to it other than winterize. Prior to first outing all I did was charge the battery.

When I tried to start, absolutely no spark to any cylinders. I cleaned all the grounds and that is not the issue. Today I ohm tested the stator and checked the kill box. I get no reading between the blue and blue/white wires. I get the proper 30 ohms between red and red/white wires. Disconnecting the kill circuit has no effect.

It would appear that the stator is bad based on the reading between the blue and blue/white wires. I have the 174-1778k1 stator. Is this possible already? What is the cause and should I be concerned that other components are bad, as well. The only thing I can think of is that I did not disconnect the battery before charging and fried the stator, and possibly other things.

From what I have learned, it is not possible to check the switchbox. The symptoms don't appear to apply to a bad trigger. My intentions are to overnight a new stator, unless there is a chance that I have missed something, or can check the switchbox first.

I would appreciate any information that would lend to making a proper decision.

Yea most switchboxes are hard/impossible to check. Same with trigger (if yours has on) Typically, if you can see the stator w/o pulling the flywheel, you will see if it is black/charred in places. If it looks good then it probably is not stator. Honestly I have had stators go bad, and the motor will still normally run. I'd be checking rectifier, and if that doesnt show a problem, then it is more than likely your trigger or switchbox. I have heard of the no spark on CDI's main cause being the trigger, and a close second is the switchbox.
