I recently tore into my 90hp 3 cyl merc/force sportjet engine to rebore and replace the pistons.<br /> I am the 2nd owner and found the water port at the very bottom of the block near the water inlet to the exhaust manifold to be blocked by what appears to be a clear epoxy. The port in question looks as tho it goes under the bottom cylinder over to the cylinder head and thus would provide cooling for the head and around the cylinders themselves. My head does have a overtemp alarm switch mounted in the top of the head. Question, is this port blocked because of the alarm switch installation or for some other reason, should I drill out the epoxy and allow water flow? Thanks, any ideas at all??
