I have a pontoon that sits in the water year round in a covered boat slip. The pontoon is longer than the slip so the rear sticks out from beneath the roof leaving the sundeck exposed. The cushions have become covered with what appears to be spots of mildew but they will not come clean regardless of what cleaning solution i have used! Any suggestions? I have tried chlorox, purple power, greased lightning, etc.

Re: SPOTS!

Most mildew remover is sodium hypoclorite (bleach) soap, color, and fragrance.

Perhaps your spots are caused by bird droppings after they eat a certain berry, or by tree drippings.

Are there any similar spots on any surrounding surfaces, or the roof over the boat?

Re: SPOTS!

If bleach did not work ,then it is surely not mildew.Try some mineral spirits or paint thinner on one spot and see if it improves at all.Charlie

:try pressure washing it with some heat, the waters got to be hot though.or if you can get ahold of a hand held steamer,it will come right off

Re: SPOTS!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I once had to buy a used door panel for a truck and it sat with the windows open. A magic eraser and some 409 was what worked in that case.
